Class Duration: 3 Hours

The Beginners Class is designed as a set format with fabric pack.It is for the complete novice or the person who hasn't sewn since High School. It covers different basic techniques including how to thread and use a sewing machine, deal with raw edges, construction of a seam, french seams, darts, understitching, facings, gathering, zips etc. After this class you are ready to join a Bring Your Own Project class so that you can advance to sewing styles that are suitable for a beginner to start on.

A few housekeeping things

• Workshops start and finish on the hour. Shopping in store before or after class is of course completely fine, but please make sure you don’t start work or leave packing up to outside class times. The teacher and staff at Tessuti Fabrics are not in a position to let classes run longer, so please be aware that running over time takes time from their other work. 
• Feel free to bring a bottle of water with you. 
• Please do NOT bring in your own machine as we have Bernina sewing machines provided in this class.

Things you need to bring to class:

• Quality pins, thread cutting scissors, measuring tape, unpicker (if you don't have these, you can purchase these in store on the day, our students are entitled to a 15% discount on the day)
• Pens or pencils
• A notepad to record things you’ve learned or leads you want to follow.

The Beginners Pack is provided by the teacher.

Bring along any patterns or ideas of projects you may like to work on in a follow up Bring Your Own Project class, to keep your sewing journey on track. This way you can discuss with Nikki, suitability for your sewing level or fabrics to consider for your project etc.
